I love helping Compassion International out when they are around the towns that are near me. I helped at a Christmas concert last night and that was my 2nd or 3rd time volunteering. The concert was at a First Baptist Church in Bentonville. It also seemed a lot more happier then the others that I've helped out at. The other volunteers were all happy and talkative. They were also very passionate about the company and the children.
The concert was an Irish Christmasy kind of concert. It was a couple singing and their names were: Keith and Kristyn Getty. It was very pretty from what I heard. They sung 'Silver Bells' and that was my favorite from them. The speaker for Compassion was very engertic and his story was different then ones I've heard before. It was his story about how he started out supporting children through Compassion. He was part of the band that was playing too.
The speaker for Compassion had a meeting with us before hand and he reminded us of some important things. One thing was to never let a children's packet just go home with a person. They have to pay at the table. The other thing that I thought was really important and neat to know was: That if a child got sponsored tonight (last night) they will get to know they got sponsored before Christmas. I thought that was really neat.
Then the most amazing thing that happened last night was this: THERE WERE 83 CHILDREN SPONSORED!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a lot! Of course, I saw a few children that I wanted to sponsor again but I already have two children. At that moment, I was giving my time to the children instead of my money, which is just as important. This the the time of season and year to do that. I am going to be involved and volunteer with Compassion International again this coming weekend. I am, for sure, going to write about those experiences too because they will really be different and heart touching for me in so many ways. I guess what I am trying to say is: I was worried that I wasn't going to have enough money this season to buy gifts for people but I think God is trying to teach me something else. That lesson is that time is just as important as a gift that cost of money or something that you brought someone.

I am more of a quality time person so that totally makes sense for me to do, even if I make something for a friend. It is the time that is spent on making it or helping out that counts. I will go ahead and tell you that I already have a few countries that I want to sponsor from and the reasons for those countries. I think my next child is going to be from South America or Africa because of the high possibility of them going into the slave business or other bad businesses. That is if i don't go to Honduras anytime soon. As long as I am single, my Compassion International family will keep growing no matter how low I get on money. God will always provide it. He is now and He will keep on providing until He wants me to do it no more.
