How to be People of Peace during Hard Times

     Today's church sermon while listening online.

          There are two roadblocks to Peace. They are:

         -When noise drowns out wisdom.

                     -"It's time to TURN OFF the noise of the world, and TURN UP the wisdom of God."

         -When Passion goes over principal.

                     -"Most of our fights are driven by our passions. War starts on the inside of a person and shows on the outside."

-James 1:7- the Wisdom of God.

-James 3:16- the wisdom of the world.

        There are 5 steps of how to be people of peace. Those 5 steps are in James and they are verses 7 and 8. Here are the 5 steps:

-Get out of the driver's sit.

-Silence the lies.

-Nuture your relationship with God.

-Remove the dirt.

-Realign your heart with God.

All this to say that we need to listen to the wisdom of God . That is how to live a life of principal!

Prayers of Jesus in Luke

          Jesus prayed a lot in Luke. He was teaching people to pray during that part of his ministry. He prayed for a lot of different things. He was lonely, for friends and mean people, to his Father, etc. He went to a place where He was alone to pray. He didn't want to show off. Here are 7 of His prayers from Luke:

-"Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed" (Luke 5:15–16).

-"One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor."- (Luke 6:12–16).

-"Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them" (Hebrews 7:25).

-"Eight days later He took Peter, James and John and went up on the mountain to pray (9:28) and while praying He was transfigured (9:29).

-" One day Jesus was praying(C) in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord,(D) teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

He said to them, “When you pray, say:

“‘Father,[a]
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom(E) come.[b]
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
    for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c](F)
And lead us not into temptation."-Luke 11

-"Jesus prayed for Simon that his faith might not fail" (22:32).

- Only Luke tells us that Jesus prayed for His crucifiers (23:34) and committed His spirit into the hands of Father (23:46).

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34).

We need to learn to pray like Jesus! We need to pray for what Jesus prays for. We need to make it as important as Jesus did!

Act with Peace, Love, and Faith

           I never had more of a confirmation then just now during my Bible study time. For a few days in a row, these past couple of weeks, all I could think to pray about was peace, love, compassion, and forgiveness. You might see a prayer or two on here about that. Well, God brought me to a Psalm that had three of those things in it. Now to me that is showing me that we really need those things in the world today. Here are those three things worded in the Bible:

-Peace-Psalm 61:2
-Steady Love-Psalm 61:7
-Good Faith.-Psalm 62:7

I've been praying for the Peace and the Love. Never thought about the Faith til now. I will throw this out there too. Psalm 61 talks about how we should handle it and how to pray for our leaders that are dealing with it now. Anyone that's dealing with it because we can pray these things for them.
           Then I got to thinking about what other words can describe these words. I started thinking about Faith first because a lot of people don't understand that. So I looked up other words to describe that word plus the other two. This was my Bible study this morning. Here are the other words and I know they need to be heard and prayed.

Faith:
-Hope
-Acceptance
-Trust
-Loyalty
-Conviction

Peace:
-Friendship
-Unity
-Truce
-Reconciliation
-Love

Love:
-Yearning
-Tenderness
-Fondness
-Appreciation

          Can you see this world in all these words or even one? If you don't agree with or be the one word I pick, that's okay. I think, at least, you can pick one you want to try and be. You can at least one pick from the 14 words. That's your challenge from me!

          All of the chapter is Psalm 61. I encourage you to read it all!

Are You a Pharisee or a Tax Collector?

June 10th, 2020

-All Lives Matter

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

 - Luke 18:9-14
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a world full of "Pharisees". Everyone thinks they are better than the next person. Everyone is mad at everyone else. They are so confident in their own self that they can't see past that. If they were able to see past that, they would be humble and return home to God. Turn back to Love, Compassion, Peace, and Kindness. If we could humble ourselves to God then, just maybe, we could do more then we ever planned to. Yes, things need to change but there are other ways to bring about awearness. We also need to trust in God and in each other. Once we do those two things, we can bring awearness to anything or anybody but then again that is what I like. I like the peaceful type of fighting, not the loud type.
How to Pray in a Time Like This?
"Pray the hardest, when it is the hardest to pray."
Facebook post-
 I am going to say something stronger on here then I usually do but it has nothing to do about politics or which side I am on so please take it into consideration. I know all my friends and family are smart and know me so they know where this is coming from. I am not trying to start anything. It is just my missionary heart speaking in this time of need for the world. Trust me I have been struggling with some of the same things and I am scared because of how close it hits home for me. I'm not too proud to say on Facebook that I have been crying a lot lately with things going on but that's me again. Here it is:
"Why can't I think how to pray? It's not the time to lose it. It's time to do it! How, Daddy, How? Is the world so messed up? That different from even a year ago? We all want Peace, Love, Forgiveness, and Compassion. So why won't we  just listen instead of fight. Why won't we show those things to one another? It is a give and take sort of thing. You get the things you give. If you give fighting, you will get that back. If you give peace, love, forgiveness, and compassion, you will get those things back. It is really simple when said but as actions it takes time and wanting to to do it. It doesn't come naturally. We have to make it happen."
I am off my soapbox now and all that was written by me. Not copied from somewhere. Please no mean comments. Just promise me you will think about it.
