Romans John 15:4-5
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
Abiding is a battle.
The Reality of the flesh and the Spirit:
Good news: you have a new nature
Bad news: you have “flesh”
Flesh is: unredeemed humannessThe reality is: there war within you
The Power of the flesh and the Spirit:
We are freed from the penalty and power of the flesh, but not its presence.
The Direction of the flesh and the Spirit
Spirit always leads to: life and peace
Flesh always leads to: death
Romans 8:6-8
Romans 8:9-13-God's Power is helping you abide.
Abiding is a battle but we don’t fight alone.
Fighting the flesh:
- Renew your mind
- Starve your flesh
- Confess your sins
